When dance floors collide as Chicago and Norwich come together to bring back that raw House sound on ‘Press Reset’ the launch release for the JuJu Muzik label. Featuring Harry Dennis, member of legendary Chicago outfits The It & Jungle Wonz, and Norwich-based UK Producer and DJ, Julian Garnett, it channels a deep underground spoken word groove.
The opening 'Original Mix' plumbs the deep house tones of Chicago with Larry Heard (Mr Fingers) and Marshall Jefferson collaborator, Harry Dennis, whose breathy vocals underpin this subterrain journey. The 'Acid Tweek Mix' is a subtle stripped down version, whist the 'Emergency In 2020 Mix’s rolling bleep line fuels a classic deep style groove with pitched-down vocal clips and sirens for dance floor frenzy. Rounding things off is the Bjilka Remix, a warm deep techy undagroover laced with squelchy acid pads and raw beats.
Connecting via DJ Ju Ju’s weekly radio show on Point Blank DAB London, Harry started listening, commenting and sharing Julian’s radio mixes. The friendship developed as they started sharing music links and chatting House music history and within a couple of months ‘Press Reset’ started to take shape.
House music stalwart, Julian "JuJu" Garnett (AKA Julian G) originally from Battersea South West London and now residing in Norwich, is best known for his ’As The Frost Sets In’ vinyl debut on the ‘Beyond The Pub EP’ on Cosmic Pint Glass, sealed with a Stamp The Wax "Premiere" in December 2018.
One of the lynchpin Point Blank Radio weekend DJ’s for the past 2 1/2 years, Julian, has worked with NYC’s early House music king, Freddy Bastone (aka Corporation Of One) on his ‘Black’ release on No Filtr.
Julian also hosts his monthly 'Rhythm Transitions' show on the highly respected Deep House / Techno station
